Information on the proposal

If you choose to submit an individual proposal and if it is accepted, the AMC will add your contribution to a session with a suitable theme.

If you choose to propose a full session with several contributors that you have recruited and if your session is included in the programme, the AMC might accept your proposal as is or might suggest certain adjustments. Gender balance and diversity of views are prerequisites for any full session.

Individual proposals

- Poster presentation: Present your work on a poster. During the conference poster session, you will be asked to briefly present your poster to the conference participants. The presentations will be followed by an opportunity for participants to view the different posters and to ask questions to the author(s).

- Oral paper presentation, with discussant: Your paper will be included in a session where you will be asked to present your research. The session will be guided by a Chair and the presentation will be followed by comments from a discussant and questions from the audience. You will be expected to submit your paper at least 10 days before the start of the conference. The paper will be made available to registered conference participants only.

- Oral paper presentation, no discussant: Your paper will be included in a session where you will be asked to present your research. The session will be guided by a Chair and the presentations will be followed by questions from the audience. You will be expected to submit your paper at least 10 days before the start of the conference. The paper will be made available to registered conference participants only.

Full session proposals

- Paper presentation session, with discussant: A paper presentation session consists of a group of individuals who submit their paper proposals together. During the panel, each participant presents their paper and there should be enough time and opportunity for comments from discussants and the audience. We invite panel proposals with a maximum of six participants, including one Chair and one Discussant. When needed, the option is available for the AMC to appoint a chair and/or a discussant for your session. Participants will be expected to submit their papers at least 10 days before the start of the conference. The papers will be made available to registered conference participants only.

On the cross-disciplinary nature of the themes

All themes are in principle cross-disciplinary. We will aim to group proposals into coherent sessions. Some sessions may end up more technical in nature or dominated by social science contributions. However, since one goal of the conference is to promote cross-disciplinary exchanges, we ask that you take this into account. For example special terms need to be explained. Think of the audience as consisting of qualified researchers but possibly from different fields.

Travel grants

The Alva Myrdal Centre generally does not cover travel and accommodation expenses. However, it will sponsor the participation of a very limited number of qualified applicants from underrepresented backgrounds, in particular those based in the Global South. Although diversity in terms of gender, nationality, topic, geographical region, student vs professional will form part of our decision, the most important criteria are the quality and relevance of your proposal.

Would you like to apply for a travel grant from the AMC?
