The VR Centre of Excellence, Centre for the Human Past (CHP), organises various seminars on topics spanning palaeogenetics, archaeology, historical linguistics, and computational research. These activities offer knowledge exchange, research training and mentorship by experts in their fields to junior researchers and PhD students.

Talks of the Past (ToP) interdisciplinary seminars are open to anyone interested in the subject, in particular junior researchers. Therefore, these seminars have a more introductory character but are followed by a more in-depth discussion on the subject.

The mini-seminars by CHP include shorter presentations on topics within the Centre's scientific interest areas. They serve as a prelude to in-depth discussions on the subject in a smaller group.

Additional research training opportunities are available through participation in and co-moderation of discussions on selected scientific publications at the CHP Journal Club meetings.

Students may earn higher education credits for active participation in the seminars (if agreed with their supervisor and in accordance with the standard practices at their departments).

These CHP seminars (and Journal Club meetings) take place on selected Wednesdays from 15:00 to 16:30 (published online in the CHP Event Calendar: https://centerforthehumanpast.se/index.php/events/), and are delivered in English.
