We are pleased to announce that the National Swedish Doctoral School in Digital Humanities: Data, Culture, and Society – Critical Perspectives (DASH) is open for applications!

Deadline: 18th September 2026

Current PhD students in Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines at Swedish institutions are welcome to apply to the research school. Those accepted will have access to courses, seminars, advanced workshops from across four partner institutions (Uppsala, Umeå, Gothenburg, and Linnaeus Universities), and a Swedish National digital tools and methods summer school.

DASH targets PhD candidates in the humanities and social sciences who are interested in learning more about computational or technical knowledge and skills and applying this to their future thesis work. Read more about DASH on our webpage: https://www.dash-doctoralschool.se/

A note on admission:
- Students must already be enrolled in a PhD program in any humanities or social sciences subject across Swedish institutions.
- Students must specify if/how their thesis relates or may relate to digital perspectives, methods, tools or materials.
- Selection will be based on the quality of student applications. In case there is a high volume of applicants, priority will be given to students that have two - three years left in their individual course of study.

What is included in the doctoral school?
- Introductory advanced workshop (two days in person in Gothenburg University in late October)
- Seminar series' from across the partner universities
- One or more courses in digital approaches to humanities with tools, methods and technologies (most online/blended with some exception)
- Advanced graduate workshop (two days in person: Spring)
- Summer school in digital tools and methods
